Armenian Council President Takes Part in Regional Dialogue on Peace and Security

The South Caucasus continues to undergo significant political changes, with domestic developments, bilateral diplomacy, and broader geopolitical processes becoming increasingly interconnected. Understanding these developments in depth, applying conflict-sensitive approaches, and fostering mutual trust and understanding require continued dialogue among Armenian, Azerbaijani, and international experts.

Last week, Armenian Council President Areg Kochinyan participated in a joint workshop organised by International Alert and RUSI – Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies. The workshop focused on key political developments in the region and discussions around the realities on the ground. Participants explored ways to reduce conflict risks, strengthen regional ties, and expand prospects for sustainable peace.

The workshop brought together leading experts from the region, Magdalena Grono, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Mark Clayton, FCDO Deputy Director for Central Asia and the Eastern Neighbourhood, as well as UK-based analysts and policymakers. Continued discussions in this format provide an important opportunity to develop a shared understanding of the regional context and contribute analysis and perspectives that can inform policy decisions and public debate.

The workshop forms part of International Alert’s ongoing work to promote dialogue and understanding across conflict lines in the South Caucasus, carried out in cooperation with Baku Press Club and Yerevan Press Club.
