Statement

by Armenian Council

We, the members of the Armenian group of the Bridge of Peace Initiative, welcome the meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev, which took place in Abu Dhabi on February 4, 2026.

The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity granted to both leaders represents an important symbolic step and reflects the awareness of responsibility toward the people living on both sides of the border.

We welcome the positive developments in Armenian–Azerbaijani relations noted in the joint statement, including the willingness to develop economic interactions, which should be pursued consistently and inclusively.

Particularly significant and symbolic is the recognition of the role of civil society actors in the process of building trust. This sends a clear signal that establishing connections between societies is a priority on the path toward peace and stability.

For the Armenian members of the Bridge of Peace Initiative, this record reaffirms the necessity of our work and reminds us of the responsibility we bear. We will continue to exert all possible efforts to expand the space for dialogue, promote mutual trust, and contribute to addressing humanitarian issues.
