Armenian Council

The Armenian Council Research Center is a non-governmental organization that conducts in-depth expert research and analysis and provides advisory services across a wide range of political, security, and societal domains.

The Center was founded in January 2022 by historian and political scientist Areg Kochinyan.

The Armenian Council regularly organizes a variety of events, including interviews, press conferences, training courses, lectures, and expert meetings. The organization also implements educational, analytical, research, and public outreach projects, and produces, publishes, and disseminates scientific, analytical, and informational materials.

Mission

The mission of the Armenian Council is to cultivate and promote rational thinking within society.

Objectives

The Council’s objective is to ensure the examination, analysis, and assessment of political, military-political, economic, and other issues related to Armenia, the region, and broader geopolitical processes. This includes threat assessment, policy forecasting, the development of countermeasures, the projection of their potential outcomes, and the public dissemination of these findings in the form of evidence-based conclusions and policy recommendations.

Values

The Armenian Council is guided by democratic values and advocates for equality before the law and the protection of human rights. It stands firmly against war, crimes against humanity or nature, and the use of brute force.


Key Programs and Initiatives

“Promoting Democratic Institutionalization” Program

The “Promoting Democratic Institutionalization” grant program aims to strengthen and consolidate democratic institutions and structures in Armenia, expand public discourse and professional engagement, and foster dialogue between civil society, the expert community, and decision-makers.

The program contributes to enhancing democratic resilience by promoting expert analysis, public awareness and engagement, as well as constructive dialogue with policymakers.

Through accessible formats and targeted outreach, the initiative encourages active civic participation and supports the development of evidence-based policymaking.

Regional Peacebuilding Processes

Members and experts of the Armenian Council are actively involved in regional peacebuilding initiatives, including Armenian–Turkish and Armenian–Azerbaijani expert dialogues. Since 2025, the Head of the Armenian Council and two of its experts have been participating in the Armenian–Azerbaijani “Bridge of Peace” initiative.

“Dilemma” Television Program

Since 2023, the Armenian Council has been producing the “Dilemma” television program, broadcast on Boon TV.

“Building a More Resilient Democracy” Program

This program aimed to strengthen the resilience of democratic systems by promoting the capacity for sovereign decision-making.

“Democratic Security” Online Periodical

This initiative provides an analytical platform that brings together leading experts and presents fact-based analyses on security challenges, geopolitical developments, and democratic processes.


Through the implementation of these initiatives and the continuous expansion of its analytical and public engagement activities, the Armenian Council has established significant influence and earned a strong reputation not only within Armenia’s civil society, but also on the international stage.
